Ree McLaughlan Brown creates with oil and cold wax, acrylic, encaustic, ink and mixed media. She loves to paint on unexpected surfaces, like granite, marble, mineral paper, and aluminum.
Motion dominates her works. Ree’s art dances with vivid color and uplifting emotion.
Living in rural Amador County, Ree works with unusual tools. Metal implements, sandblaster, torch, air, irons and knives move paint, wax and inks. A tractor blade shapes rugged edges of her works on granite and marble.
Ree earned a Bachelor of Art with a minor in women studies. She has a Master’s in Business Administration from CSUS. She retired from CAL FIRE, after 38 years in state service. She now paints daily in her studio on five acres. Donating art to to make a difference in our world is her passion.
